Skinning Update - Character Design - The Cherry Red Shed - Myself

Over the weekend I have been busy modeling my Grandad and have most of him now completed (to be uploaded onto blog soon). Today there have been multiple successes and failures (and an entertaining leg glitch). The source for so many arm problems is the skeleton had moved at some point meaning the pose editor wasn't successfully mirroring over. Between the shoulder and the wrist, there have also been problems where the mirroring was inverting meaning they would all bend in opposite directions when I mirrored anything. This finally got fixed, and the wrists got fixed, it wasn't till soon after the wrists got fixed and mirrored that actually it hadn't worked and my right hand hadn't taken any of the smoothing (so although it would go into the correct position all the small tweaks I had done hadn't transferred over) After some investigation I have found a kink in my mesh that wasn't there before and the version I have without the kink still has an error with the wrist so this will need to be fixed again before I can continue with mirroring over my pose editing to the right wrist.

Skinning Update - Character Design - The Cherry Red Shed - Myself

I've had to go back with my file, due to an error that was occurring with the arms twisting in opposite directions when mirrored. This has now been fixed for the shoulders and the legs but needs to be done for the arms.

Skinning Update - Character Design - The Cherry Red Shed - Myself

Having some issues with the pose editor in the ankle but so far this is my progress having done the wrist (again) and the leg and knee joint.

Bluezoo Visit

Had a great time at Bluezoo being shown all the showreels and learning the particular software they use for certain animations. We were shown around the different floors showing the different stages of animating and compositing and a couple of new and upcoming animations they have planned for the future! A truly awesome company! Thank you Bluezoo, and can't wait to see what more is in store for the future.

Skinning Update - Character Design - The Cherry Red Shed - Myself

Today I have been working on Blend Shape Deformers. There was an issue with the shoulder height which had to be corrected first, meaning the top needed to be re-weighted, it also put less emphasis on the clavicle which was working more like a shoulder. This is my progress so far, next after my tour around Blue Zoo studio on Wednesday I'll be working on the wrist, hopefully, there shouldn't be many problems with the rest of the model as the sleeves were the hardest section to do due to their size.

Skinning Update - Character Design - The Cherry Red Shed - Myself

I have now completed blending the upper and lower body and now am moving onto the corrective blend shapes. I'm having a couple of little hiccups with them which are delaying me slightly, but overall shouldn't cause any major issues.
