I have created 4 different business card ideas for the New Designers Show. I wanted them to be clear and professional. Would any of these ideas be good for my final choice?
Hey Ruth - I like No 4 - though I think your name is just a bit to pushed up against the top of the card, I think 'Computer Animation Artist' should read across one line only, and I'm not sure visually about the spacing between your contact details - I'd just try it one below the other without the space - I think it look stronger and tidier.
Hi Ruth - A few quick words of advice. I think your 'Achilles heel' is text - Font, placement, spacing etc. It was the same in your reel. There are a few tips I can give you to help you the next time I see you otherwise the problem will comntinue to detract from your work. However, number one - don't use 'pressing enter' as your vertical spacing. Create a seperate font layer and do it yourself. Number 2, stay away from the edges of your design...firstly, that looks bad (like the text trying to escape) but more practically, it might get cut off during printing/cutting the card - Very common in design for print. Its the same for screen too, instead thats called 'TV Safe area' because different TV's crop the image differently. Number 3, don't use underline and italic together. In fact, I avoid underlined all together and only never use an Italic for a main title. I just use font size and bold. In terms of your titles...you should call yourself a '3D Artist & Animator'. You should make new renders just for your cards instead of using your reel too. Your Grandad is a very nice model (the Ruth model too) but your not showing it off - He's looking away. The Ruth model needs a a bit of extra lighting. Finally, put your renders on the back of the card a have you details on their own of the otherside. Otherwise you are diminishing your details in favour of imaagery. You can always have two versions - A Grandad card and Ruth card.
