Orthographic Line-Art - Turnaround - Telescope

Orthographs Telescope
Completing the orthograph's for the magician, grandson and telescope took much longer than I was expecting them to take, especially the telescope so I am very pleased with the drawings above, I didn't want to rush this process as I wanted my work to have a professional finish. :)

Final Image of Magician and Grandson - Character Design

Final Image
This is both characters completed and put together, the line art sizes don't match, and this is because I was seeing what size would be best for both characters side by side. I will now start drawing them from Orthographic POV's and closeups.

Magician's Grandson Development - Character Design

Final Image
After some friend feedback, I have decided to keep the Grandson's cloak short this is due to it having "More movement" when it comes to animating.

Magician's Grandson Development - Character Design

Developing Thumbnail 4
Here I have added the expression from thumbnail 7 onto thumbnail 4. I have created two different versions as I couldn't decide if I preferred the cape to be long or short.

I have kept the colour schemes almost identical as this will be easier in the long run to manage when creating both characters in Maya.

Final Task - Character Design

For this lesson, I was tasked with being placed in a group where we got given a brief which changed multiple times throughout the day, at the end we were required to show our work and how we had gone with the brief, explaining our thoughts and ideas drawn on paper.

Magician's Grandson - Character Designs

Grandson Character Designs
My favourites are 3,6 and 7

I like the look of the clothing being too big on him as he's only young, but I also had to consider making him match with my Magician so they didn't look disjointed.

Magician Development - Character Designs

Combining thumbnail 6+8 together
I liked the design of number 8 from my original thumbnails but it seemed a bit creepy, my story is quite a mellow story so I decided to focus on a more frail and saddened look, so I combined thumbnails 6 and 8 together to create a new design, Thumbnail 9. I prefer his less aggressive appearance but still keeping some of the character from thumbnail 8.

Running Man Gif Sequence - Animation

Running Man

This was an animation created with a selection of pre existing life drawing images I had drawn, this was similar to the dancing girl but I used less frames giving it a much smoother finish. I also tried to experiment with shapes and negative space.

Adding Angles to a Story-Line - Character Design

Two Old Enemies in an Epic Duel
I was given the words "The Last Stand" from this I was required to create 3-4 slides showing the last stand story-line but being very specific with my perspectives and angles, for example for my first frame I have tried to apply the rule of thirds.
It was challenging as I had so few frames to work with and making each frame unique and interesting was challenging, Justin liked my drawings, but thinks for the last frames I could have made the characters shoulders pulled back with their bodies hunched over more to look even more aggressive.

  1. Two Enemies look to each other as a standoff.
  2. Sheriff looks on quietly as not to intervene too soon.
  3. Epic battle - the two challengers stare at each other with burning rage trying to recover.
  4. Final Showdown, the sheriff has had enough.
